Who We Are
The Guards at War 39-45 re-enactment group portray the Household Brigade during WWII comprising some of oldest and most famous Regiments of the British Army, The Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Welsh Guards, Irish Guards and The Household Cavalry
The Group originally started as the 5th Battalion Coldstream Guards and It was decided to seek official permission to wear the uniform and accoutrements of the 5th Battalion Coldstream Guards. The group was granted written permission by Regimental Head Quarters in February 2009.
In 2010 the 5th Bn joined forces with the Brigade of Guards, a like minded buch of guys with the same interests, so we formed The Guards at War 39-45 Living history group and staged our first event at Kentwell Hall in October 2010
As far as possible we use authentic WWII equipment, only using high quality replicas when original equipment is not available or too rare to risk damage. We portray the WWII British solider as accurately as possible and have a very high standard of uniform, kit and weapon authenticity.
We attend 1940s re-enactment events from the south up to the Midlands and use WWII period tents to camp at most events.
We have full public liability insurance (details available on request) and carry out risk assessments for all events.
So why do we re-enact?
It's fun! We get to meet a lot of nice people with like-minded interests; talk to the public about re-enacting and WWII History; meet ex-soldiers who tell us some great stories and we learn a lot from them. You don’t need any military or re-enacting experience to join, just enthusiasm.
Age is not a problem as we have members from 16 to 60.
